The town of
Lunenburg, where
Ashley spent her childhood, is the jewel of
Nova Scotia's famed South Shore, a
UNESCO World Heritage Site for its lasting
representation of 18th-century colonial maritime architecture,
home of the schooner
Bluenose (see the Canadian
dime for details), and, most importantly, perhaps the
finest spot in all of eastern Canada to spend your late-summer
holiday in 2011.

Lunenburg is about a 75-minute
drive from Halifax, home to the nearest international
airport. Though there is no longer a ferry service from USA to
Nova Scotia, there is a ferry--Princess
of Acadia--from Saint John, NB across the Bay of Fundy to
Digby, NS, which is a 2.5 hour drive from Lunenburg.
Driving from Toronto takes less
than two days; Quebec City is the halfway point. If you're
coming through Quebec please bring
Richard a croissant.
